Optical frames: lightweight, stable and strong in terms of value for money

CP frames are a popular choice in optics due to their combination of comfort, appearance and value for money. CP (Cellulose Propionate) is a thermoplastic material made by combining cellulose flakes with propionic acid and acetic acid. The material is heated in granules and injected into a mould to form the frame. CP frames are lightweight and therefore comfortable to wear for long periods of time. The material is stable and stronger than cellulose acetate, which means that frames are less likely to deform or warp.

CP frames retain their colour better, fade less quickly and can be produced in different colours or patterns. In addition, CP is generally less irritating to the skin, which is beneficial for those with sensitive skin or allergies.

Unlike some other plastics, CP has no shape memory, which means that the frame does not return to its original shape on its own after being stretched significantly.
